In 2007 I founded the Show Us Your PuNAANi Bread Curry Club. This was for the very simple reason I enjoy curry and I know my mates do too. Now I am a mature (!) family man with not as much time or money to socialise with my friends on weekends I thought this would be a great idea to combine the socialising with the curry!
I also find that every time to speak to someone about different Indian restaurants they will recommend one telling you ‘it’s the best I’ve ever had’. So I thought that we could try a variety of different places and as a group mark how good we think they are.
Luckily in our area (of central Essex) we have a huge number of Indian restaurants - most of good quality!
Myself and my fellow Curry Club members / enthusiasts (see the members page for details of these people) meet as often as is possible for an Indian Meal and a few drinks to enjoy the food and atmosphere of a different restaurant each time.
We now feel we are qualified to use our experience to give you a good idea of which places you should visit and if there are any places that should be avoided.
For details of this check out our 'Places Visited' page and from there our 'Recommendations' page for our top 5 destinations visited so far!
We all have one ambition for our Curry Club and that is for it to become a well known and respected brand in Essex.
Yours sincerely

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What exactly is a Curry Club?
A: Easy…a group of people who enjoy curry going out for a meal on an organised basis
Q: How do you rate each venue?
A: We split it into five different categories and mark out of ten. The categories are Menu variety, Value for money, Service, décor & facilities and quality of food. We then total all of these categories up and rate on a ‘satisfaction percentage’
Q: What are the marks for your visited restaurants?
A: Unfortunately these are available to the Curry club members only. However we have a recommendations section on the ‘places visited’ page You can also see the paces we have visited and who we think would enjoy it. One thing I would say is we haven’t visited a bad place yet!
Q: Do you eat the same thing every time you go out?
A: No most of us like to try new curry all of the time but to ensure we all try something different we have a ‘Dish of the day’ which is chosen by a different member each meeting. This dish is something from the menu that no one has chosen and is ‘slightly different’ from that which we would usually have.
Q: How were the members chosen?
A: They were specially selected for their qualities. There are three main qualities that a Curry Club member must posses. They must love curry, they must be reliable & committed and they must be a good laugh.
Q: Are there any special rules to Curry Club?
A: Yes but unfortunately these are known only to the 10 members. The only rule you need to know is that Curry Club members don’t talk about Curry club rules to any ‘outsiders’
